Two women hiking along the Meek's Creek Trail

The hike to Meeks Creek Falls and around Meeks Creek is perfect for people seeking an easy trail (i.e. no elevation gain) with plenty of solitude. When hiking the Meeks Creek Trail as a loop, you’ll travel along a dirt road, in and out of the forest, and finally through a meadow. Although there are…

In spite of the very low effort and short distance required to hike to Eagle Rock, it’s well worth your time. I’ve driven past Eagle Rock a thousand times before and have always wondered whether or not I should stop to check it out. The answer is an enthusiastic “yes.” Hiking to Eagle Rock is…

Presented here is a short black and white comic I created about an overnight backpacking trip I took into Desolation Wilderness with a former girlfriend back in 2012. Although our relationship did not last and the backpacking trip was only two days, the experience was rewarding. One of the reasons I enjoyed the trip was…

Instagram post 2181696701768090593_1782217877 Make no mistake, this is straight-up propaganda. But it's my propaganda, so I don't feel too guilty for posting it 😏
.
Like many people, I find it challenging to promote my own work. Skills aside, that's one of the main reasons I never truly become a "self-employed" artist.
.
It's funny because it's not for lack of confidence. I mean ... even though I don't own any leather-bound books and my home doesn't smell of rich mahogany, I am kind of a big deal 😁
.
So, what's my problem? Who knows. But I believe it has something to do with alignment and the intersection of timing and passion.
.
So, here I am promoting my labor of love and trying to generate some interest.
.
You may be hoping to log some late season hikes or, thanks to the latest dusting of snow in Tahoe, thinking of pulling out your xc skis and snowshoes.

Instagram post 2178103985398189144_1782217877 As much fun as I've had looking for plants and wildflowers this summer, I'm lovin' the blues and golds of autumn.
.
FYI ... the Forest Service was scheduled to lock all remaining (open) gates in the Tahoe Basin today (11/15/19). So if you're planning any hikes that require you to drive on one of the many FS roads to get to the trailhead, either plan to hike bonus miles or choose a different hike.
.
Also note that as of November 1st, Sno-Park permits are required at all Sno-Parks in the Lake Tahoe area (Carson Pass, Echo Summit, etc...) until May 30th (of the following year). Purchase in advance as there are no options to pay at the trailhead.
.
Lastly, to hike, xc ski, and snowshoe around Hope Valley (Pickett's Junction area), you'll need a Lands Pass (CA hunting or fishing licenses acceptable). Purchase in advance as there are no options to pay at the trailhead.

Instagram post 2177473214799053858_1782217877 I crunched the numbers and realized that today's hike up Mount Tallac was my 8th time in the 14 years I've been living in Tahoe.
.
Funny because it's not necessarily my favorite hike. But I keep finding friends who haven't been up the iconic Tahoe peak. So, it's fun for me to hike with them.
.
And it gets me off the couch 😆
.
Thanks for the hike today, @pixiebaber 🤗
